We support health professionals in Jamaica’s public Hospital with lectures and hands on training workshops. “Give a man a fish you feed him for the day, teach him how to fish you feed him for a lifetime”, this is the concept behind our training and educational initiatives. Many of the volunteers that participate in the mission trips impart their knowledge and advanced techniques to local physicians so they they can use the training to better treat their patients. Each year the foundation conducts an intense 2 day Emergency & Critical Care Ultrasound Workshop to train doctors to effectively use this technology to reach faster diagnosis in emergency rooms at pubic hospitals. In January 2023, in collaboration with our partners, the Jamaica Handheld Ultrasound Project (JHUP) was launched. JHUP provides the latest handheld ultrasound devices coupled with on going training and case reviews with health professionals from pilot hospitals in Jamaica. The proper use of ultrasound technology can make a huge difference in patient outcomes and save lives.
