We support healthcare professionals in Jamaica’s Public Hospitals, with lectures and hands-on workshops in evidence-based medicine topics. “Give a man a fish you feed him for a day, teach him how to fish you feed him for a lifetime.” This is the concept behind our educational and training initiatives. Many of the volunteers who travel with the mission trips, impart their knowledge of advanced techniques used in their first world medical intuitions. It is our goal to equip the local doctors with the training so they can use it in their respective hospitals to provide better treatment. This is why each year we sponsor a two day conferences on the latest in ultrasound technology and how to use this tool to effectively and urgently assess patients. Proper use of Ultra Sound can lead to faster diagnosis in the Emergency Room at public hospitals which in many cases can help to save lives. We also donate ultra sound machines to hospitals in Jamaica.
We have also hosted Pediatric Cancer Conferences and Trauma Conferences. Despite the challenges in the public hospitals, the conferences are very effective and impactful and help to improve care in these areas.
