Additionally, the team will be executing the first ever Trauma Conference, which is geared towards addressing the management of trauma care in Jamaica. In recent times there has been and increase in road accidents with multiple fatalities. In these situations effective EMS response can help to save lives. Our partner for this project is the Jamaica Association of Emergency Medical Technicians JAEMET’S, which main mandate is to promote the improvement and education of EMS service in Jamaica.

On day one (1), we plan to accommodate approximately 100 attendees at this conference, who will range from medical personnel from the surrounding public hospitals, to emergency EMT’s from the Fire Department. The morning segment will include lectures by local and US based physicians, while the afternoon will be a hands on workshop.

On day two (2), the round table discussion will be a focus group to discuss trauma response to identifying basic equipment needs.
